In this six week class we will (continue to) learn and connect poses (asana) in a gentle, flowing manner often identified as Vinyasa-style yoga. We will learn basic Sun Salutations as well as how to safely, correctly move from one pose into the next. We will continue focus on breath work (pranyama), proper alignment and on health and wellbeing. Our goal is to increase strength and flexibility while reducing stress and learning how to quiet the mind and remain in the moment. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels and all levels yoga experience.

Details

Often it’s not the stress itself that harms us but rather how we react to it. Join us for a four week gentle hatha yoga practice that is designed to provide you with tools and techniques to not only relieve stress but also help you deal with life’s challenges in a healthier way. You will learn to activate your body’s relaxation response and calm the mind through breathing techniques, postures and meditation.

Yoga experience is not required for this class and it is appropriate for all bodies. Use of props such as the wall, chairs, blankets and bolsters are encouraged (props are available in the classroom). We will move gently and mindfully with our breath during this hatha yoga practice learning concrete ways to “downshift” from our hectic day of multi-tasking, sensory overload and stress. We hope to see you in class!

Join us for a gentle yoga format that will offer many options allowing you to expand your existing yoga practice. While improving balance and reducing stress, we will also work toward increasing strength, flexibility and endurance.

NOTE: For this class it is recommended that you have some yoga experience and are able to get up and down off the floor independently.
